highboy
Leggy storage chest
A highboy is a tall chest of drawers mounted on legs, typically with a lower section containing additional drawers.
The piece originated in the late 17th century and became a signature form in American colonial furniture.
The legs often feature decorative turnings or cabriole curves.
Compare lowboy, a similar but shorter piece designed as a dressing table.
