hellfire preacher
Sulfur-tongued sermonizer
A hellfire preacher is a religious minister who emphasizes damnation, eternal punishment, and God's wrath rather than mercy or redemption.
The style involves vivid descriptions of hell's torments to frighten listeners toward repentance: The hellfire preacher warned that sinners would burn for eternity.
The term often carries connotations of theatrical intensity and Old Testament severity.
