head hunter
Talent acquisition specialist
A head hunter is a recruiter who seeks out candidates for high-level positions, often approaching people who aren't actively job-seeking: A head hunter contacted me about a VP role.
The term comes from the literal practice of taking enemies' heads as trophies—a custom documented in various cultures.
In sports, a head hunter is a player who deliberately targets opponents' heads.
