hay lofts
Overhead fodder storage
Hay lofts is the plural of hay loft—a storage area in the upper part of a barn where hay is kept.
The elevation keeps hay dry and allows it to be dropped down to animals below.
Hay lofts appear in rural imagery and occasionally in romantic or nostalgic contexts: They climbed up to the hay loft to watch the sunset through the barn doors.
