guest artist
Temporary creative collaborator
A guest artist is a performer who appears with an ensemble, company, or production on a temporary basis rather than as a regular member.
The term applies across disciplines—a dancer joining a ballet company for a season, a musician sitting in with an orchestra, an actor brought in for a special production.
The symphony welcomed a guest artist for the Beethoven concerto.
The arrangement often brings fresh perspective or star power to an organization.
