grey squirrels

Acorn-hoarding park dwellers

Grey squirrels are tree-dwelling rodents with bushy tails and grey fur, native to eastern North America.

Introduced to Britain in the nineteenth century, they have largely displaced the native red squirrel there and are often considered pests.

In American English, the spelling is usually *gray squirrel*.
