red squirrels
Tufted-eared arboreal rodents
Red squirrels are small tree-dwelling rodents with reddish-brown fur, found across Europe and North America.
In Britain, they're the native species, now endangered due to competition from introduced gray squirrels.
The American red squirrel is a separate, smaller species known for its territorial chattering.
