flying squirrels
Patagium-equipped tree rodents
Flying squirrels are small nocturnal squirrels with a membrane of skin stretching between their front and back legs, allowing them to glide long distances between trees.
They don't truly fly but extend their limbs to form a parachute-like surface: A flying squirrel sailed from the oak to the maple.
Several species exist across North America and Eurasia.
