great-grandaunt

Grandparent's elder aunt

A great-grandaunt is the aunt of one's grandparent—that is, the sister of a great-grandparent.

The term describes someone three generations above you on the family tree: My great-grandaunt lived to be 102.

Also called great-great-aunt, though the forms are interchangeable and neither is more correct.
