gravida
Woman carrying child
Gravida is a medical term for a pregnant woman, or more precisely, a woman who has been pregnant regardless of outcome.
It appears in compound terms indicating the number of pregnancies: a primigravida is pregnant for the first time, a multigravida has been pregnant multiple times.
Medical records note this as G followed by a number: G3 means three pregnancies.
The term pairs with para, which counts births rather than pregnancies.
