grading system
Academic rating scale
A grading system is a framework for evaluating and ranking performance, typically in education.
Schools use grading systems to assess student work—letter grades (A through F), percentages, or pass/fail.
The term extends to any standardized method of classification: The USDA grading system rates beef quality.
Different institutions adopt different scales, making conversions sometimes necessary.
