peer assessment
Equal's judgment call
Peer assessment is evaluation of work by others at the same level—students grading classmates' essays, employees reviewing colleagues' performance.
The method distributes the burden of feedback and exposes participants to different approaches: Peer assessment helped students see how others tackled the same problem.
Also called peer review, though that term more often describes academic journal evaluation.
