goose quill
Old-fashioned writing tool
A goose quill is a feather from a goose, especially one trimmed and shaped for use as a writing instrument.
Before metal nibs, quill pens made from goose feathers were the standard writing tool in Western civilization for over a thousand years: The clerk dipped his goose quill in the inkwell.
