gobblers
Birds that gobble
Gobblers are turkeys, especially male turkeys, named for the gobbling sound they make.
The term appears most often in hunting contexts: He bagged two gobblers on opening day.
Gobbler can also mean someone who eats greedily, from the verb gobble meaning to eat fast and noisily.
