Interfere with shot
Goaltend is a basketball violation where a player interferes with a shot while the ball is descending toward the basket or on the rim.
The opposing team is awarded the points as if the shot had gone in.
The term also covers blocking a shot after it has touched the backboard.
In hockey, goaltend simply means to play goalkeeper: She goaltended for three seasons.
