geometric series

Constant multiplier sequence

A geometric series is a sequence of numbers where each term is multiplied by a constant ratio to get the next: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16... or 100, 10, 1, 0.1...

The series converges to a finite sum when the ratio is between -1 and 1; otherwise it grows without bound.

Geometric series model compound interest, population growth, and many natural phenomena.
