general term
Catch-all label
A general term is a word or phrase that covers a broad category rather than specific instances within it. "Furniture" is a general term; "chair" and "sofa" are specific terms.
Use a more general term if you can't remember the exact word.
In logic, a general term refers to any member of a class rather than a particular individual.
