gastric ulcers
Peptic digestive lesions
Gastric ulcers are sores in the lining of the stomach, caused most often by bacterial infection or prolonged use of anti-inflammatory drugs.
They produce burning pain, nausea, and sometimes bleeding.
The singular gastric ulcer appears in medical contexts; the plural is more common in general speech: He's been treated for gastric ulcers.
