gas molecules
Floating invisible specks
Gas molecules are the individual particles—atoms or groups of atoms—that make up a gas.
Unlike molecules in liquids or solids, gas molecules move freely and rapidly, colliding with each other and container walls.
This behavior explains why gases expand to fill available space and exert pressure: The gas molecules bounced off the balloon's interior.
