franglais

Parisian-London linguistic mashup

Franglais is a blend of French and English, either French heavily peppered with English loanwords and expressions, or English sprinkled with French.

The term itself blends *français* and *anglais*.

It's often used disparagingly by French speakers concerned about English infiltrating their language: The Académie française has long waged war against franglais.

It can also describe the comic hybrid that emerges when someone mixes the two languages freely.
