Primary English language user

An anglophone is an English speaker, or describes a person, group, or region where English is the primary language: anglophone Africa, the anglophone population of Montreal.

The term appears most often in contexts where English speakers are distinguished from those of other languages, particularly French speakers in Canada or former colonial territories. (Capitalized Anglophone is a variant spelling.)
