framing nail
Stud-joining metal spike
A framing nail is a large nail used in construction for joining structural lumber—wall studs, floor joists, roof rafters.
Typically 3 to 3½ inches long, framing nails are designed for strength rather than finish appearance.
They're often sold in strips or coils for use with pneumatic nail guns: The carpenter loaded a fresh strip of framing nails into his gun.
