four-eyes
Schoolyard spectacles insult
Four-eyes is a playground insult for someone who wears glasses: The kids called him four-eyes until he got contacts.
The taunt imagines the glasses as a second pair of eyes.
Mildly offensive but dated—as glasses became fashionable and contact lenses common, the insult lost much of its sting.
