A fouetté is a ballet move in which the dancer whips one leg around while turning on the other, creating momentum for multiple rotations.
The term comes from French for "whipped." In classical ballet, a series of fouettés—particularly thirty-two consecutive turns—is a virtuoso showpiece: She nailed the fouettés in Swan Lake.
