forensic analyst
Crime lab scientist
A forensic analyst examines evidence to support legal investigations.
The term most often refers to someone who analyzes digital evidence—recovering deleted files, tracing cyberattacks, examining hard drives for criminal activity.
But forensic analysts also work with physical evidence: blood spatter, fingerprints, DNA samples.
The forensic analyst testified that the files had been accessed three hours before the murder.
