fluoresces

Shines under blacklight

Fluoresces is the verb form of fluorescence—to emit light while absorbing radiation from another source.

Certain materials fluoresce under ultraviolet light, glowing visibly while the UV source is active: The mineral fluoresces bright green under black light.

Unlike phosphorescence, fluorescence stops immediately when the exciting radiation is removed.
