floating village
Houses on water
A floating village is a community of houses built on water, typically on rafts, pontoons, or stilts over lakes, rivers, or coastal areas.
Found throughout Southeast Asia and elsewhere, these settlements may house fishing communities or people adapting to seasonal floods: We toured the floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake.
Some remain anchored in place; others drift with water levels.
