flesh-eating
Devouring living tissue
Flesh-eating describes something that consumes animal tissue.
The term applies to carnivorous animals, certain plants like Venus flytraps, and most notoriously to necrotizing bacteria: flesh-eating disease, flesh-eating bacteria.
In horror contexts, flesh-eating zombies devour human bodies.
The infection was caused by flesh-eating strep.
