flecking
Adding small spots
Flecking is the presence or application of small spots or streaks of color, light, or texture across a surface.
Paint may show flecking from age, hair develops flecking of gray, or an artist deliberately adds flecking for visual interest: The granite countertop has natural flecking throughout.
The word suggests scattered, irregular marks rather than uniform pattern.
