first touchdown
Initial end-zone entry
The first touchdown in a game of American or Canadian football—the initial scoring play where a team carries or catches the ball into the opponent's end zone.
Scoring first can shift momentum and strategy: They got the first touchdown but couldn't hold the lead.
In betting, "first touchdown scorer" is a popular prop wager on which player will reach the end zone first.
