fieldpiece
Mobile battle cannon
A fieldpiece is a cannon or artillery gun designed to be mobile on the battlefield, as opposed to heavier siege weapons or fixed fortifications.
The term is largely historical, associated with 18th- and 19th-century warfare: The artillery company positioned their fieldpieces on the ridge overlooking the valley.
