Metro payment card
A farecard is a prepaid card used to pay for rides on public transit systems, particularly subways and buses.
The card stores a monetary value that decreases with each use: I need to reload my farecard before the morning commute.
Farecards have largely been replaced by contactless smart cards and mobile payment systems.
