fake injury
Pretended bodily harm
A fake injury is a feigned or exaggerated physical harm, typically to gain an advantage or sympathy.
In sports, players fake injuries to draw penalties, stop the clock, or slow momentum—common enough in soccer to have its own term: diving.
Outside athletics, someone might fake an injury for insurance fraud, to avoid obligations, or to manipulate others: He suspected she was faking her injury to get out of work.
