failed campaign
Unsuccessful electoral effort
A failed campaign is an organized effort—political, military, or commercial—that did not achieve its goals.
The phrase most often describes electoral bids that lost: His failed campaign for Senate ended his political career.
It also applies to military operations, advertising pushes, or advocacy efforts that fell short: The failed campaign to save the historic building.
