facet joint
Vertebral connection point
Facet joints are the small joints connecting adjacent vertebrae in the spine, allowing the back to bend and twist while limiting excessive movement.
They occur in pairs on each side of the vertebral column.
Facet joint pain, often from arthritis or injury, is a common cause of chronic back and neck problems: The doctor suspected her lower back pain originated in the facet joints.
