façades
Outward architectural appearances
Façades are the front faces of buildings, especially those with distinctive architectural treatment.
The term extends to any false or superficial appearance meant to conceal something less attractive: Behind the cheerful façade, she was struggling.
A person might put up a façade of confidence while feeling insecure.
