extended editions
Films with additions
Extended editions are versions of films, books, or other media that include additional content beyond the original release.
Most commonly applied to movies, an extended edition restores deleted scenes, expands sequences, or adds material the director couldn't fit in the theatrical cut: The extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films add hours of footage.
Publishers also release extended editions of books with new chapters or supplementary material.
