final cuts
Last editorial decisions
Final cuts are the completed versions of films or videos, approved for release after all editing is finished.
A director with final cut has contractual authority over the finished product—the power to approve or reject changes.
Without this privilege, studios can re-edit against the filmmaker's wishes.
The director's final cut restored twenty minutes of footage.
