ethereal plane
Ghostly other dimension
The ethereal plane is a parallel dimension in fantasy and role-playing games that overlaps with the physical world but remains invisible and intangible to ordinary senses.
Ghosts, spirits, and certain magical beings exist on the ethereal plane, able to observe the material world without being seen.
In games like Dungeons & Dragons, characters can shift into the ethereal plane to pass through walls or avoid attacks: The wizard cast a spell to slip into the ethereal plane.
