errancy
State of straying
Errancy is the state or quality of wandering, straying, or being in error.
The word appears in two distinct contexts: the tendency to err or make mistakes human errancy, and the condition of roaming or traveling without fixed course, as in knight-errancy.
Both senses share the idea of deviation from a set path—whether moral, intellectual, or physical.
