entailments

What logically follows

Entailments are the necessary consequences or implications that follow from a statement or action.

In logic and linguistics, an entailment is what must be true if something else is true: The sentence "She killed the spider" entails that the spider is dead.

In law, entailment historically restricted inheritance to a specific line of heirs.

More broadly, entailments are whatever comes attached to a choice or situation: He didn't anticipate the entailments of the new policy.
