end pieces
Loaf heel slices
End pieces are the terminal slices of a loaf of bread—the heels with crust on one side and soft crumb on the other.
People tend to love them or avoid them.
The term extends to any portions at the edges of something: I like the end pieces of lasagna where the cheese gets crispy.
