emotional recall
Summoning past emotions
Emotional recall is a technique, primarily in acting, of summoning memories of past experiences to produce genuine emotional responses on stage or screen.
An actor preparing for a grief scene might recall a personal loss to access authentic tears.
The method derives from Stanislavski's system and remains central to Method acting.
The term occasionally appears outside performance contexts for deliberately accessing past feelings: Through emotional recall, she reconnected with the joy of her childhood summers.
