elysium
State of rapture
Elysium is a state or place of perfect happiness and bliss.
The word comes from Greek mythology, where the Elysian Fields were the final resting place of the heroic and virtuous after death—a paradise reserved for those favored by the gods.
In modern use, elysium describes any idyllic condition or setting: The garden was her personal elysium.
The adjective elysian means blissful or heavenly. (Capitalized Elysium may refer to specific places or works named after the mythological realm.)
