electrocardiographs

Cardiac rhythm recorders

Electrocardiographs are machines that record the electrical activity of the heart, producing a tracing called an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG).

The term also refers to the tracings themselves.

Doctors use electrocardiographs to detect irregular heartbeats, heart attacks, and other cardiac conditions: The electrocardiograph showed an abnormal rhythm.
