sphygmomanometers
Blood pressure devices
Sphygmomanometers are devices for measuring blood pressure, consisting of an inflatable cuff, a pressure gauge, and typically a stethoscope.
The cuff wraps around the upper arm and inflates to temporarily stop blood flow, then slowly releases while the operator listens for pulse sounds.
Digital versions have largely replaced manual ones in home use: The nurse grabbed a sphygmomanometer from the supply cart.
