electoral coalition
Parties joining forces
An electoral coalition is a temporary alliance between political parties or candidates who agree to cooperate in an election, pooling resources and voters to improve their chances against stronger opponents.
Coalition partners may run joint candidates, share ballot lines, or simply agree not to compete against each other in certain races: The center-left parties formed an electoral coalition to defeat the incumbent.
