duck diving
Surfer's wave bypass
Duck diving is a surfing and bodyboarding technique for passing through an oncoming wave while paddling out.
The surfer pushes the nose of the board underwater and follows it down, letting the wave roll overhead, then surfaces on the other side.
The name comes from how ducks submerge to feed.
I had to duck dive three waves before I made it to the lineup.
