draft pick
Newly selected player
A draft pick is a selection made by a professional sports team during a draft—the process where teams take turns choosing from a pool of eligible players, typically new professionals entering the league.
The term refers both to the selection itself and to the player selected: The team used their first-round draft pick on a quarterback.
Draft picks can be traded between teams as assets: They traded two draft picks for the veteran center.
