Doubleplusgood is the highest degree of goodness in Newspeak, the fictional language from George Orwell's *Nineteen Eighty-Four*.
The totalitarian regime replaced nuanced vocabulary with mechanical intensifiers: good, plusgood, doubleplusgood.
Outside the novel, it's used ironically to mock propagandistic or Orwellian language: The ministry called the surveillance program doubleplusgood for national security.
